## Project overview

Whitenergy plans to establish its first Renewable Energy Community (CER) in Arena Po, in the province of Pavia. The photovoltaic plant is planned on land adjacent to the A21 motorway, within 300 metres, in an area classified as suitable.

## Community model

According to Giovanni Tellini, Whitenergy partner and administrator of We Build Energy, the electricity generated can be shared by community members, used in small-business production processes, or exchanged among participating families, with economic and social benefits.

Tellini states that the purpose of a CER is not to generate high financial profits but to provide environmental, economic and social benefits for members and the local area.

Whitenergy presents the Arena Po initiative as a first step toward a community that could operate nationally, in line with the principles cited in the article and recent GSE clarification.

## Energy transition goals

Gianluigi Mele, CEO of Whitenergy, says that a national CER could help develop distributed self-consumption and contribute to Italy's 2030 renewable-energy and CO2-reduction goals referenced in the PNIEC and the European Green Deal.
