The project combines a photovoltaic system with battery storage and modernization of the thermal plant, and ranked first among more than 120 beneficiaries in a Lombardy Region incentive programme for business energy-efficiency and self-consumption projects. ## Page details - Content type: Press release - Published: 31 March 2022 - Client: Cotonificio Zambaiti - Energy partner: White Energy Group - Location: Cene, Bergamo, Italy - Topics: photovoltaics, battery storage, thermal plant efficiency, self-consumption, energy independence, emissions reduction, incentives ## Project targets The project includes a photovoltaic plant rated at 999 kWp, energy storage of approximately 250 kWh and thermal-plant upgrades. The combined interventions are expected to reduce dependence on the electricity grid by 47%, reduce dependence on gas consumption by 18% or more than 250,000 standard cubic metres per year, and avoid more than 1,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. ## Energy audit and monitoring Cotonificio Zambaiti selected White Energy Group in May 2021 to continue improving plant efficiency and reducing emissions. The project began in July 2021 with an energy audit at the Cene facility. White Energy used its VEP Virtual Energy Platform to monitor major consumption and build a technical analysis based on the first four months of data. This process identified two initial interventions. ## Thermal plant upgrade One intervention concerns modernization of the thermal plant. The existing diathermic-oil boiler is replaced by a direct-production steam generator, reducing gas use and contributing to the overall efficiency gains. ## Photovoltaic and storage system The second intervention is a solar photovoltaic electricity-generation system coupled with battery storage. At full operation the photovoltaic plant is expected to produce about 1.2 million kWh per year and reduce dependence on the national grid by about 40% for annual daytime and evening electricity consumption. The storage system has a stated capacity of about 254 kWh. White Energy estimates self-consumption above 83% and emissions savings from the photovoltaic installation alone of more than 500 tonnes of CO2 per year. ## Incentive result The Cene project ranked first in the Lombardy Region call for incentives supporting reductions in business energy consumption and photovoltaic installations, optionally combined with storage and intended for self-consumption. ## White Energy role White Energy provides consulting and technical-operational services covering plant study and sizing, energy monitoring and support in identifying regional incentive programmes and applicable tax-credit opportunities. The service model described on the page is intended to let companies obtain energy and environmental savings while avoiding direct investment and operational responsibility for plant maintenance and performance. ## Key people - Angelo Zambaiti: CEO of Cotonificio Zambaiti - Franco Asuni: Chief Business Development at White Energy ## Source - https://weeg.it/comunicati-stampa/nuovo-impianto-fotovoltaico-per-il-cotonificio-zambaiti-riduzione-dei-consumi-e-mille-tonnellate-di-co2-in-meno-lanno/
