Central theme energy communities and remote self-consumption. During event comes Brussels’ green light for government’s CER decree

More than three hundred registrants attended White Focus 2023, the annual in-depth event organized by White Energy Group, an energy services company based in Verona and Cagliari. The event, which took place online yesterday, focused on decarbonization and industry transition with a series of keynote speeches that provided a space for discussion on technical solutions, contracts, incentives, and necessary products.

Particular focus on energy communities and self-consumption at a distance and the Italian government’s so-called CER Decree, which just yesterday received the green light in Brussels. Focusing on the Italian proposal to finance the diffusion of self-consumption forms of energy from renewable sources, thanks to a dedicated fund of 5.7 billion euros, were the speeches by Algowatt and Sani Zangrando and those edited by White Energy, with Alessandro Spiri, who focused on the interesting topic of contractual formulas and incentives. “Remote self-consumption allows companies to tap into the energy produced by plants even several kilometers away and to access the incentives provided with energy communities, avoiding the complexity of having to participate in them,” Spiri explained. “One of the most interesting innovations that has emerged from the new draft decree,” Spiri continued, “lies in the individual remote self-consumption for which the share of the incentive exceeding 55 percent will have to be donated to third parties other than companies, such as, for example, families, public entities, or for social purposes to NGOs, sports clubs, all often disadvantaged individuals who will in fact benefit from the tool even though they do not invest directly.

The ERC decree of the MASE provides an incentive tariff on renewable energy produced and shared and a grant. Fundable capacity is five gigawatts in total, with a time limit to the end of 2027. Benefits are recognized for all renewable technologies, such as: photovoltaic, wind, hydro, and biomass.

The speeches that followed yesterday morning focused not only on Cer and self-consumption, but also in general on incentive tools for decarbonization and the advantages of cogeneration for industry and integration with photovoltaics and ultra-high-efficiency thermal power plants. Illustrating the various topics together with Whitenergy were experts from the partners involved: Fire Italia, Algowatt, Ab Energy, Unical and Sani Zangrando.

“For companies, the energy transition is no longer a choice, but a necessity that allows them to reduce their costs and environmental footprint while remaining competitive and sustainable,” stresses White Energy CEO Gianluigi Mele, who summarizes the meaning of the White Focus. “Knowledge of technologies and applications, combined with a cross-cutting understanding of incentive tools, in the form of grants, incentives, and tax breaks, specific to application and sector, is essential to promote the adoption of renewable energy and energy-efficient technologies.
