Verona-based company enters the cogeneration sector with its subsidiary Ges through the Energy Performance Contract formula

Green Efficiency Solutions srl (Ges), will build a 3.5 megawatt electrical (MWe) natural gas-fired cogeneration plant for Superbeton Spa of the Grigolin Group, a leader in the concrete and cement industry with more than 60 production sites in Veneto, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Emilia-Romagna and Lombardy.

The plant-which will allow Superbeton to significantly improve its energy efficiency and save 260 thousand euros a year-will come into being under the Epc (Energy Performance Contract) formula, that is, with a guarantee of results on the interventions carried out and with the burden of financing borne entirely by Green Efficiency Solutions itself.

The project, intended for the production site in Nervesa della Battaglia (Tv), will mainly involve the installation of a 3,500 kilowatt electric and 3,700 kilowatt thermal methane gas reciprocating engine, producing about 20.5 million kilowatt-hours annually electric and about 12 million thermal.

This is how White Energy Group Srl (Esco – Energy Service Company), which specializes in consulting and implementation of energy efficiency solutions, through Ges, its investee company , fully enters the cogeneration sector (the process that produces electricity and heat together) in Epc formula.

The Energy Performance Contracts (Epc) formula allows the guarantee of energy savings and easier access to financing through the Esco, paying back the intervention over time through the cash flows that result from energy upgrades.

“We have identified specific technical recovery solutions and an economic offer tailored to an energy-intensive plant such as the one in Nervesa,” explain Gianluigi Mele and Franco Asuni, managing director and business developer of White Energy, respectively. “With this intervention, a saving of more than 260 thousand euros per year will be achieved on electricity consumption. Ges will be delegated for all investment, operation and maintenance activities of the cogeneration plant allowing Superbeton to focus on its core activities.”

“This is an important achievement because it sanctions White Energy’s entry into the field of cogeneration interventions financed directly with Epc formula developed with special purpose vehicles, which we call Green initiatives. We have several other negotiations under way,” Mele stresses.

“Currently, there are several Green (Epc) formulas applicable to energy efficiency interventions: natural gas cogeneration, high-efficiency steam generators, heat recovery, industrial biomass boilers, Orc plants on thermal waste, compressed air,” explains Asuni, also a Ges administrator. “We are very pleased that Ges can offer its services on cogeneration to Superbeton.
